In 1981, the Mental Hygiene Society’s name was changed to Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois (MHCCI) and services were moved to the current location in Springfield. Services expanded to include programs for high-risk children and their families.
In 1996, MHCCI became an affiliate of Memorial Health System. The following year Community Counseling Services in Jacksonville and Logan-Mason Mental Health in Lincoln merged with MHCCI. The affiliation and merger created one of the largest behavioral health systems in Illinois. In 2016 Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois changed its name to Memorial Behavioral Health.
