Hands-On Healthcare is open to high school and college students, community members, and Memorial employees who are interested in learning more about healthcare careers. Sessions occur monthly in partnership with SIU School of Medicine and are designed to allow participants the opportunity to engage with current healthcare professionals in interactive settings.
Each session will take participants through various stations in a specific healthcare field to get a better feel for the responsibilities associated with each department, as well as the education and training needed for that particular career.
Interested parties may attend as many sessions as they wish at no cost, and may register online. Registrations accepted on first-come, first-served basis, as participation is limited to 40 individuals per session. Once participants complete the registration process, they will receive a confirmation email containing additional information, including documents they (and a parent or legal guardian if the participant is under the age of 18) will need to print, sign, and bring with them to the session. Individuals who participate in multiple sessions need only to complete the supporting documents one time.
Each monthly session will begin and end promptly at the start time and end time listed in the schedule. Sessions will rotate locations depending upon topic, and participants are responsible for their own transportation.
